Uninterruptible Power Supplies
An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), is an electrical system that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source (typically your utility or Hydro) fails.
A UPS differs from a standby generator in that it will provide near-instantaneous protection power interruptions by supplying energy to your critical loads via stored energy in batteries. The on-battery runtime of most uninterruptible power sources is relatively short (only a few minutes) but sufficient to provide smooth, uninterruptible power while a standby power source, such as a generator, starts or gives crucial time to enable controlled shut down of any critical protected equipment.
As well as providing backup power, a UPS can help balance loads, improve efficiency and correct voltage spikes or sustained over voltage.
At Safeguard, we are not only AC experts, we are also DC experts as well. A high quality UPS System can offer backup protection of your most important things (e.g. computers, experiments etc.) when electrical surges or power outages occur.
